Business Advisory Services
The COC SBDC provides free, 1-on-1 business consulting engagements with professional Business Advisors on all business issues including business expansion and start-up, marketing and sales tactics, business plan development, international trade –import/export assistance, logistics, manufacturing, financing resources, access to capital/loan packaging, finance and accounting, HR, legal issues, web site design and development, e-commerce and more.
YEP! – Young Entrepreneurs Program!
The COC SBDC offers a special and unique program - the Young Entrepreneurs Program or YEP! YEP! provides a unique combination of trainings and seminars aimed at young people between the ages of 14-27. YEP! is diverse in its outreach and delivery methods, with websites, social networking sites, virtual reality games, youth-oriented trainers and business simulation products all designed to teach business management, finance, marketing, sales and e-commerce skills in a way that is appropriate for young entrepreneurs.
YEP!’s goal is to increase the awareness of entrepreneurship as a viable career option for young people. Through YEP! projects, students will learn business skills and develop an increased understanding of not only what it takes to be self-employed, but also what it takes to be a great employee. They’ll also learn about the importance of education, develop life management and problem solving skills and learn valuable lessons directly from successful young entrepreneurs. I3 Advanced Technology Incubator
A component of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted by College of the Canyons, the I3 Advanced Technology Incubator program nutures technology-based start-up companies by offering access to a wide range of support services focused on each client's long-term success. The support services are coordinated with, and supplement the business advisory services offered by the SBDC. Participation in the I3 Advanced Technology Incubator is by application only. Help for Businessess Affected by the Sayre Fire
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) received a special grant to provide business support services to small businesses affected by the Sayre Fire. If your business was negatively affected by the Sayre Fire, please call the SBDC for special assistance to help you recover from the fire. Please contact the SBDC at (661) 362-5900.
CCCP – California Construction Contracting Program
NOTICE - As of October 2009 The California Construction Contracting Program (CCCP) has temporarily suspended operations due to limited funding for the program. For the latest information on the CCCP Program please check the www.buildcalifornia.org website.
CCCP is located within the COC SBDC. The program offers FREE training and counseling to enhance local business owner’s ability to bid for and win government contracts. All are encouraged to attend and learn first-hand, from an expert team of trained consultants, who intimately understand Caltrans and local agencies’ bidding and award processes as current and former contractors and business owners. The program is a partnership between the State of California Caltrans, the California Community College Economic and Workforce Development Program, and College of the Canyon’s SBDC program.
Trainings
